A Rose By Any Other Name

'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? It is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for thy name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myself.

Romeo & Juliet 2:2:38-49

Gotta love Shakespeare!!!!

Okay, so I won't go into the theoretical thoughts behind this monologue, which acts as a soliliquey,
regarding the signified and the signifier.

I LOST YOU RIGHT THERE. I KNOW IT!!!

Anyway, this post is actually about this super wonderful man right here.

Yes!!! That is my man,

I have been referring to him in posts and on my About Me page as DL.

That snowflake is just ridiculous.
I know.
Then, about two weeks ago, I realized that this may be misconstrued in a variety of ways.

Most of these I do not fancy.

Let's consider
DL

Dear Lover?
NOPE.

Don't get me wrong, he can be that to ME,
but I don't want my readers thinking of that.

Down Low?
Ah . . . if you know the slang meaning of this you will understand why this is a big UH OH!!!

Not For You is his bands name
Okay, so really it is just his initials.
David Lascaibar

He's not so keen on broadcasting to the world,
which is why our family blog is private,
so I would like to call him something different.

I love how Hillary of Help a Mutha Out and The Whole FamDamily
calls her man Bewtcut

It is AMAZINGLY CUTE, but in a macho way.

Okay, so all of this rambling is to announce
what I will now be calling my main man.

After much deliberation, and considering names like
My Knight
Dave the Wave
The Wave
Candybar (It's what his band members call him)

I finally asked him.

He knew right away.

THE CUBAN COWBOY.

YES!!! He is Cuban.
We do live in the desert right by where
Gene Autry and Dale Evans lived,
so cowboy fits too.

Plus, it is a name of a song that he wrote for his band.

So, the verdict is in.

Meet MY Cuban Cowboy!!!!
This pic is a bit (COUGH COUGH 4 years) old, but I love it!!!
I am totally cutting my bangs again.

What do you think?
Oh, not about the bangs, but the name.
Well . . . maybe the bangs too.

  1. I always wondered what DL stood for- I thought "Dear Lover"...but I like Cuban Cowboy. Fits him well!
